Virginia Lorene (Spires) Rhudy Connell

Virginia Lorene Spires Rhudy Connell, 87, of McRae went to her eternal home Monday, April 29, following an extended illness.  A funeral service will be held at 1:00P.M., Friday, May 3, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with burial at New Red Hill Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery.  Rev. Troy Maddox will officiate.  Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Mrs. Connell was the daughter of the late Henry and Rosa Jones Spires.  In her younger years she worked as a waitress at various area restaurants, worked at Roydon Wear, and was a CNA with home health agencies, but will be remembered mostly for her many years as a CNA with McRae Manor Nursing Home.  Mrs. Connell was a member of McRae Church of God, but also attended New Red Hill Holiness Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.B. Rhudy and thirteen siblings.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. Doyal Connell of McRae; children, Rosemary Rhudy (Wayne) Minor of Columbus; Cindy Rhudy (Tim) Myers of Dublin and Robert (Lori) Connell of McRae; grandchildren, Layne Minor, Jody Minor, Victoria Jett, Jessica Williamson, Brooke Passmore, Anna Grace Myers, Lacey Connell, Landon Connell and Lee Connell; and great-grandchildren, Kylie Minor, Kamryn Minor, Kaden Minor, Bear Williamson, Maverick Williamson, Mattie Jett, Emery Jett and Thalon Passmore. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
