Tommy Purvis

Tommy Purvis, 78, of Alamo died Tuesday, January 23, following a lengthy illness.  A funeral service will be held at 3:00P.M., Friday, January 26,  in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial in the Alamo Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation is one hour prior to the service.

A native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County, Mr. Purvis was the son of the late Elbert Billy Purvis and the late Mattie Lee White Purvis.  A lifelong farmer, he was also the owner and operator of Purvis Logging.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Frances Purvis of Alamo; children, Brenda (Robbie) Mitchell and Mike Purvis, both of Alamo; brother, Don (Mildred) Purvis of Alamo; and grandchildren, Heather (Caleb) Browning, Elizabeth (Mitchell) Knuckey, and Eric (Jennifer Hicks-Kramer) Kramer.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
