Steven Douglas Jones

Steven Douglas Jones, affectionately known as Doug, passed away peacefully in McRae on March 7, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on March 22, 1967, in McRae, Doug lived his life devoted to his family, his work as a lifelong farmer and trucker, and his deep sense of community.

Doug was a proud graduate of Telfair County High School and further pursued his education at ABAC. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his dedication to the people he loved. He was known for his hardworking nature and his unwavering spirit, which inspired those around him.

He was a valued member of Macedonia Baptist Church while also attending New Hope Baptist Church and Harmony Baptist Church. Doug's involvement in the Midway Prayer Breakfast reflected his commitment to faith and fellowship within his community.

A loving husband, Doug is survived by his wife, Michelle M. Jones, of McRae; and their daughter, Haley Elizabeth Jones, who resides in Charlotte, NC. His warm spirit will also be cherished by his mother, Ann Jones of McRae, and his two sisters, Dennia (Chester) Swain of McRae and Cindy (Neal) Cooper of Jonesboro. Doug leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will remember him fondly and carry his legacy forward.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Deen Jones. His family and friends take comfort in the memories they shared and the love that will continue to bind them.

Friends may pay their respects during the visitation at Vaughn Funeral Home in McRae on March 8, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church in McRae-Helena on March 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Doug's remarkable life and the impact he made on his family and community will not be forgotten. He has left behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and unwavering love, which will continue to inspire all who knew him.
