Ronal Wilson “Lope” Bowen, 68, of Jacksonville, died Friday, February 22. A funeral service will be held at 3:00P.M., Sunday, February 24, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial in the Roberson Cemetery Visitation is Saturday, 6:00-9:00P.M.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Mr. Bowen was the son of the late James Elbert “J.E.” and Lola Mae Hulett Bowen. A longtime farmer, he served one four-year term on the Board of Commissioners from January, 2005-December 2008, where he served as Chairperson. A former manager and truck driver for Ferrell Gas Company, Mr. Bowen also served on the ASCS Board and attended Milan Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sylvia R. Bowen, Jacksonville; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Greg Kinnett, Jacksonville and Gina B. and William Graham, McRae; brothers, Alden Bowen and James “Buddy” Bowen, Jacksonville; grandchildren, Jason and Kara Graham, McRae, Jodi Kinnett, Jacksonville and Bailie Graham, McRae; great-grandchildren, Tyler Graham and Taylor Graham, McRae; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Blaney and Susan Roberson, Dennis and Brenda Roberson and Sarahlyn Roberson, Jacksonville, Minnie Roberson, Fitzgerald and H.J. Roberson, Ellabelle; and several nieces and nephews.
