Rosie Viola “Cricket” Gray-Dowdy Williamson, loving wife, mother and grandmother, 79, of Milan, died Saturday, February 18. Funeral services will be held at 11:00A.M., Tuesday, February 21, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial in the Milan Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Ms. Williamson was the daughter of the late George and Christine Studstill Gray and was the wife of the late Jimmy Marion “Jay” Williamson. She was a member of the 1955 graduating class of Milan High School and a graduate of Middle Georgia Business College. Having worked for more than fifty years, Ms. Williamson was employed with Roydon Wear, the City of Milan, Visiting Nurses Association of Telfair County, and Community Action. She retired after many years in the Telfair County Tax Commissioner’s office, eight of those years as Tax Commissioner. Ms. Williamson was a member of Milan Baptist Church and served several terms on the Milan City Council. She was also a member of Milan PTA, Little Ocmulgee EMC, Milan Booster Club and a board member of the McRae Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include her children, Jimmie Walter Williamson, Wanda Christy Williamson and Robin Russell Williamson, Milan and Tommy Estus (Tina) Williamson, McRae; sisters-in-law, Jean Gray, Milan and Jean Williamson, Claxton; granddaughter, McKinzie Rose Williamson, Alamo and several nieces and nephews, including Bodie, Kirby, Jordy and Brooks Gray.
