Mrs. Polly Giddens Moon, 83, entered into rest Sunday, April 15, 2012 after a long illness. Funeral services will be at 3:00P.M., Friday, April 20, 2012 at Macedonia Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Waller officiating and eulogy given by her nephew, Tom Sanders. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
The daughter of the late Walter Giddens, Sr. and Annie Vaughn Giddens, Mrs. Moon spent her childhood years in Telfair County. She married Marvin C. Moon and later they moved to Perry, Ga. There she raised her two daughters, Dollie Arlene Lacefield, and Janet E. Manning. She owned and operated Moon’s Washerette for many years, then working for Kellwood Company until it closed. She moved to Augusta, GA in her later years to be with her daughters. She was a member of W.H.T. Walker Chapter of the UDC in Augusta, GA. Mrs. Moon was a sweet, kind, and gracious lady and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin C. Moon, her sister, Susie Smith; her brothers, Ed Giddens, Scott Giddens, and Walter Giddens, Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, Dollie Arlene Lacefield and her husband, Michael Lacefield of Wrens, GA; Janet Elaine Manning and her husband, Ernie Venner of Augusta, GA; her sisters, Ruby Gunn of McRae, GA; Willie Sanders of Albany, GA; Katie Tate of Macon, GA; Mary Gunn of Dublin, GA; her brothers, Clark Giddens of McRae, GA; and George Thomas Giddens of McRae, GA.
