Minnie (Hulett) Spires


Minnie Hulett Spires, much loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2012 at the age of 81 years 11 months and 28 days.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Sunday, August 12th, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae.  Services will conclude with interment at Rebecca Baptist Church Cemetery in Milan, where she will be laid to rest by her husband of 62 years.
Minnie was born on August 11, 1930, in Milan, Georgia.  She was the youngest of eleven children born to the late Luther H. and Rebecca Selph Hulett.  She married R C Spires on December 17, 1946.
Minnie was a kind-hearted person with a heart of gold. She lived life fully and found great enjoyment in many things including family, friends, visiting the sick, shut-in and reading her Bible. She was a compassionate caregiver to many of her siblings and friends. She desired and strived to always be there for others when needed.
She faithfully and joyfully looked forward to the annual “Hulett Family Reunions” and was the coordinator for that event for many years.
Mrs. Spires was a faithful member of the Milan United Pentecostal Church. She loved going to church.  She was an avid soul winner and prayer warrior.
She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, nine of her 10 siblings, her husband, R C, and many other family & friends that will be waiting to welcome her to Heaven.
Minnie is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Spires of Lawton, OK, her daughter and son in Law, Rita and Jim Norris, her son and daughter in law, Randy and Sharon Spires of Milan; her grandsons, Luke and Angela Spires of Milan, Mark and Ginger Spires of McRae, Josh and Brandi Norris and John and Joey Norris of McRae; great grandsons Joshua Spires of Milan, Jamie and Jessie Norris of McRae; her sister, Lucille Carnes of Milan; a special nephew and his wife, Henry C. & Inez Carnes of Milan; three sisters-in-law, Caulie Jump of Byron, Rachel Spires of Macon, and Mary Ellen Hulett of Milan; and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends.
The value of friends and relationships can never be measured and Minnie is survived by several extraordinary friends that have supported & cared for her and brought immeasurable joy with their calls and prayers and remained by her side till her passing.  Thank You!
Minnie’s unwavering faith in GOD sustained her through the years and her unconditional love, faith and kindness to her friends and family will always serve as an inspiration to us.
Minnie will be missed greatly and remembered always for the love that she shared and gave to all those she touched.  Love always.................Until we meet again.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, August 11th at Vaughn Funeral Home.
