Mikie Sam Kinnett, 52, of McRae, died Monday, January 28. Funeral services will be held at 4:00P.M., Thursday, January 31, at Faith Baptist Church with burial in the Kinnett Family Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Mr. Kinnett was the son of Elizabeth McVey Kinnett and the late Daniel B. Kinnett, Sr. A longtime farmer with the family farm, Kinnett Farms, and a faithful attendee at Macedonia Baptist Church in the Workmore Community, he was a FSA Committee Member from 2004-2012, a charter member of the Telfair County Young Farmers Association, member of the Telfair County Cattleman’s Association, Midway Prayer Breakfast member, and a former member of the Farm Bureau Board of Directors. Kinnett Farms was also recognized by Soil and Water Conservation as the 1996 Family of the Year. Mr. Kinnett was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Kinnett, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Diane G. Kinnett; mother, Elizabeth McVey Kinnett; children, Steven Daniel Kinnett, Laura Elizabeth Gracen Kinnett and Logan Bransom Kinnett, all of McRae; mother-in-law, Martha H. Giddens, Abbeville; brother, James (Angela) Kinnett, McRae; sisters, Beth (Hugh) Yawn, Rhine, Patricia (Tim) Davis, Northport, AL; sister-in-law, Becky Blankenship, McRae; grandson, Bryan Kristopher Lee Kinnett, McRae; five nieces; five nephews; seventeen great-nieces and great-nephews; aunts and uncles, Maude McVey, Chester Swain, Charles and Dorothy McVey, Frank and Mildred McVey, Lonnie "Bud" and Betty Jean Smith and Elizabeth Spires; and a host of cousins and friends
