Mary Alice Shepherd, a beacon of kindness, was born on February 18, 1946, in Milan, Georgia, where she also spent her entire life. She passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, in Eastman, Georgia, after a courageous battle with an extended illness.
Mary's journey through life was defined not only by her hard work but also by her warmth and compassion for others. Throughout her career, she worked at various places including the Giant Peanut Company, the Milan Garment Factory, and Holland Chevrolet. However, her most recent job was that of a homemaker.
In her personal life, Mary leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her dear in their hearts. She is survived by her brother, Monroe (Geneva) Shepherd, and her sister, Melda (Harold) Lancaster, both of Milan. Mary Alice took great joy in the lives of her niece and nephews: Kayla (Phillip) Brown of Bonaire, William (Lea) Lancaster of Milan, and Jason Shepherd of Warner Robins, as well as her treasured great-nephews, Jeff Lancaster and Ethan Brown, along with her great-niece, Rylie Brown. She also leaves behind several cousins and friends whose lives she touched with her sweet and kind spirit.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Will Daniel Shepherd and Wilhelmina Swinson Shepherd, as well as her beloved fiancé, Taylor Millwood. Their memory will remain forever entwined with hers, as she was a shining example of love and dedication to her family.
A visitation honoring Mary will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Rockwell Baptist Church Cemetery in Milan, Georgia. Following the visitation, a graveside service will commence at 11:00 AM, providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather, reflect, and celebrate the remarkable life she lived.
Though our hearts ache with the loss of Mary, we find solace in knowing that her legacy of kindness, love, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. The impact she made in the lives of those around her is a testament to a life truly well-lived, and her spirit will forever be a guiding light.
The family appreciates flowers or memorial contributions to Rockwell Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Joy Stanley, 255 Preston Spires Rd., Rhine, GA 31077.
