Margaret Jane Craig (McLean) Margaret ‘Jane’ Craig, beloved aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on October 10th, 2022 in Jacksonville, Florida following a brief illness. She was 97 years old. She was born in Lumber City, Georgia, to Daniel and Clyde McLean on August 30, 1925. Mom married James F. Craig on December 26, 1950 in Lumber City, GA. During Dads’ time in the Navy, the family lived in Green Cove Springs and Key West Florida before settling on the Westside of Jacksonville, FL. Mom was always active. She learned to play piano, ride horses, paddle canoes, swim, sew and many other endeavors. Mom never stopped moving even when age related issues slowed her down. She regularly enlisted neighbors to join her on walks around the neighborhood right up to her final days. Mom loved the water, especially the ocean. She was always game to try something new, like Tai Chi. She also ensured her children kept moving when we were young. She took us to pools, tennis courts and many other activities. Mom was a devoted Christian and member of Terry Parker Baptist Church. She was active in a variety of church activities throughout the years, including Keenager Choir, Clothes Closet, nursery and craft class. She cherished all of her family and friends forever. Mom was especially grateful for all of her nieces and nephews love and support through the years. She maintained contact with her childhood best friend until her passing a few years ago. She always remembered birthdays with cards and phone calls. She was an inspiration to all that knew her and will truly be missed.
