Mae Elizabeth (Broadaway) Walker

Mae Elizabeth Broadaway Walker, 89, formerly of McRae, died Saturday, April 13, following a brief illness.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M., Monday, April 15, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home followed by a visitation until 1:00P.M.

A native of Memphis, TN, Ms. Walker was the daughter of the late John Charles Broadaway, the late Elizabeth Barton Walker, and the late Clarence Walker.  She was very active and shared her many talents through Eastern Star, Pilot Club, Lioness Club, Pioneer Arts and Historic Society, as a substitute teacher and through her business, Tomorrow’s Treasures.  She attended Texas College for Women and Middle Georgia College and was a member of the McRae Presbyterian Church.  Ms. Walker was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Wiley Webb Walker, Jr.

Survivors include her children, Karen and Mike Garrett of Madison, and Wiley and Martha Walker of Swainsboro; sisters, Lynn Valente of Winter Haven, FL and Kay Cowell of Germantown, TN; sister-in-law, Dot Knox of Water Valley, MS; grandchildren, Melissa and David Huddleston, Leslie and Bill Allen, and Adrienne and Thomas Hudson, all of Mountain Brook, AL, and Brad and Joann Walker of Dallas; step-grandchildren, Amanda and Jerrod Goodman and Chris Riner, all of Swainsboro; great-grandchildren, Garrett Huddleston, Kathryn Huddleston, Caroline Huddleston and Michael Huddleston, Mary Ragon Allen, Walker Allen, Brooks Allen, Mary Clinton Hudson, Ava Hudson, Libba Hudson, Thomas Hudson, Jonah Walker and James Town; step-great-grandchildren, Hannah Goodman and Hope Goodman.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
