Lucille Varnadoe Walden, 95, of Lumber City, died Monday, February 6. Funeral services will be at 11:00A.M., Wednesday, February 8, at Lumber City Baptist Church with burial in the Telfair Memorial Gardens, McRae.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Mrs. Walden was the daughter of the late Robert Lee “Jack” and Ada Catherine Pope Varnadoe. She was a member of the Lumber City Baptist Church, a charter member of the Hazlehurst Chapter of Eastern Star, and a member of the Lumber City Chapter of Eastern Star. Mrs. Walden was the owner/operator of Walden’s Department Store and Florist and was a board member of Telfair County Department of Family and Children’s Services. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Raymond Woodrow Walden, brother, Louie Varnadoe, and a niece, Martha Smith.
Survivors include nieces and nephew, Jackie Rowland, Robert Varnadoe and Catherine Barker, all of Alamo.
