Lila Mae Dykes Smith, 88, of McRae, died Tuesday, March 1. Funeral services will be at 3:00P.M., Saturday, March 5, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, with burial in Telfair Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Mrs. Smith was the daughter of the late Issac and Mahalie Roberts Dykes. A retired final inspector with Roydon Wear, she was a member of Helena Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a daughter, LaRue Yawn Dykes.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley (Bob) Nelson, Sun City, AZ, Janet (Emory) Rogers, McRae; son-in-law, Ernest Dykes, Sr., McRae; brother, Willie Dykes, Macon; grandchildren, Ernest (Debbie) Dykes, Jr., Vidalia, Timmy Dykes, McRae, Kirk (Dawan) Grimes, Albequeque, NM, Ricky (Tina) Grimes, Thornton, CO, Stan (Christine) Grimes, Denver, CO, Gail (Bryan) Klostermeyer, Scott Air Force Base, IL, Barbara (Mike) Mailes and Renee Adams, both of Macon; 25 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
