Larry Dean Powell, 68, of Lumber City, died Saturday, August 18. Funeral services are at 4:30P.M., Monday, August 20, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial in the Dodges Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 3:00P.M. until service time.
A native and lifelong resident of Lumber City, Mr. Powell was the son of the late Roy E. and Alma Renfroe Powell. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis and a lifelong member of Dodges Chapel United Methodist Church. Mr. Powell was employed with Fuel South, Waycross.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Lynn Powell, Lumber City; daughters, Terri Schools and Crystal (Jason) Ewig, both of Cochran; brothers and sisters, Gilbert Powell, Nelson Powell and Judy Hooks, all of Lumber City and Edna Noah, Knoxville, TN; and grandchildren, Zachary Schools, Megan Schools, Natalie Ewig, Isabelle Ewig and Axel Ewig.
