Joyce Monfort Brown, 77, of McRae, died Saturday, October 5, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 8, at McRae First Baptist Church with the Reverend Todd Crosby and Norwood Davidson officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the Brown Cemetery in Chauncey, GA. Visitation is planned for Monday, October 7 at Vaughn Funeral Home from 6:00-9:00 P.M.
Born in Cobb County, GA and a native of Alamo, GA, Mrs. Brown was the birth daughter of the late Needham C. and Grace Monfort Wilkes. Following the death of her mother at a very young age, she was lovingly raised as the daughter of John Barnwell and Leola Powell Monfort. A bookkeeper her entire life, she was employed with Brown’s Furniture Company, The Telfair County School System, and Tucker and Tucker Realty in Macon. Mrs. Brown was a member of McRae First Baptist Church where she was very active in "The Joy Class". She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, the late James Lovett Brown of McRae and her sister, Betty McCann of Brunswick.
Survivors include her children, Angela Hall (Steve) Sinton, Marietta, GA and Michael (Melanie) Brown, St. Joe, IN; sisters and brother, Mary Lee (LeRoy) Carter, Warner Robins, GA, Shirley (Donald) Hood, Macon, GA and Leon (Stasia) Monfort, Basall, CA; Her grandchildren, Matthew Thomas Hall and Brandon Lawrence Hall, both of Marietta, GA, Tiffany Michelle (Dave) Stanhope and Taylor Elizabeth Brown, both of Savannah, GA and Codi (Daniel) Walk of San Diego, CA; and great-grandchildren, Honey Jade Walk, True Sophia Walk and Rome Avery Walk, all of San Diego, CA.
