John Troy Driggers

John Troy Driggers, 83, of McRae died Friday, January 15, following a brief illness.  A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M., Wednesday, January 20, at Telfair Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.

A native of Lyons, Mr. Driggers was the son of the late Pat Quincy Driggers and the late Corine Webb Driggers.  Affectionately known as J.T or Tinker, he was a 1955 graduate of South Broward High School and attended Broward Community College.  Mr. Driggers proudly served our nation in the U.S. Army, then in the Reserves for a combined total of 34 years of service, retiring as Sergeant Major.  He worked at McArthur Dairy for 33 years, and retired as Chief Engineer.  He enjoyed relaxing with country music and old westerns, puttering in his workshop, dancing with Kickin' Kountry Line Dancing, spending time with his family and attending church.  Mr. Driggers was a genealogy enthusiast and was active in the American Legion, Sons of the Confederacy, Eastern Star, and was a 50-year Mason in Florida and Georgia.  He was a one time active member of the Pioneer Arts and Historical Society and was a member of Scotland Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by a son, Travis Troy Driggers.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Joyce Driggers of McRae; son, John P. "J.P." (Lisa) Driggers of Kingsport, TN; and granddaughter, Jessica Greenstein of Jonesboro.  Several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews also survive.
