John Howard Brown, Jr., 78, of McRae, died Monday, June 13, at his home. Funeral services will be at 11:00A.M., Thursday, June 16, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with burial in the Milan Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native of Telfair County, Mr. Brown was the son of the late John “Blue John” and Irene Spence Brown, Sr. and was the married to the late Anis Etrelle Holley Brown. A U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, he lived in Jacksonville, FL before returning to Telfair in the 1970’s. Mr. Brown retired from Amercord, Lumber City. Loved by all who met him, he was known for his big heart as well as his deep love for his family and his beloved Pepper.
Survivors include his children, Laurie A. (Gerald O., Jr.) Spoon, Brooklet, John H. (Rhonda) Brown, McRae, Edward E. Brown, Jacksonville, FL, Charles W. Brown, Jacksonville Beach, FL, and Allen L. (Kim) Brown, McRae; grandchildren, Stephanie, Hollie, Brad, Marshall, Abby, Eddie, Christy, Tyler, Dean and Henry; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Perry Brown, Jacksonville, FL; and sister, Deloris Tribble, Columbus.
