JoAnne (Miner) Teate Baldwin

JoAnne Miner Teate Baldwin, 89, of McRae, passed peacefully on Monday, October 4, following a recent illness.  A visitation will be held at 1:00P.M., Thursday, October 7, at First Baptist Church of McRae, followed by a funeral service at 2:00P.M.  Burial will be at Telfair Memorial Gardens.

A resident of McRae for most of her life, JoAnne was born on November 25, 1931, in Telfair County to the late Joe Neal Miner and Annie Clyde Coley Miner.  After graduating as Salutatorian of Telfair County High, she began her career in bookkeeping and accounting in the 1950's with Wofford/Pure Oil Company in Atlanta.  Upon returning to McRae in 1965/66, she held several positions in that field before working 20 years as Clerk to the Telfair County Board of Commissioners until her retirement in 1988.  JoAnne was an active member of First Baptist Church of McRae and the Joy Sunday School class for many years.  She was charter Queen of the Red Hat Society and held several offices, including President of the Pilot Club.  In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and fellowship with friends and family.  In addition to her parents, also preceding her in death were her husbands, Roger H. Teate and Edwin H. Baldwin; her brother, Malcolm Minor; and sisters, Gertrude M. Poore and Dorothy "Dot" Miner Cowart.

Survivors include her children, Bonnie (Oscar) Hulett of Hazlehurst, Stacy Lea Teate (Jeneane Barber) of Macon, Rodney Alan (Lynda) Teate of Altamonte Springs, FL and Nelson Lynn Teate of Macon; grandchildren, Missy (Stacey) Hamner of Huntsville, AL, Mark (Heather) Hulett of Greensboro, Jane (Terry) Peavy of Ashburn, Karla Fletcher of Albany, Kristy (Coley) Cox of Panama City Beach, FL and Patti Teate of Deltona, FL; sixteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a niece and several nephews, cousins and extended family members.
