Jewell E. May, 95, of McRae, died Monday, November 17. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Friday, November 21, at Community Church of God, Helena, with burial at Harrelson Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native of Alamo, Miss May was the daughter of the late William Oris May and Minnie E. Horne May Smith. A member of Mt. Paran Church of God in Atlanta where she previously taught Sunday school and was active in all aspects of church life; she was a registered nurse and lab technician at Georgia Baptist Hospital (Atlanta Medical Center) and later a lab manager, where she retired after 43 years of faithful service. She was preceded in death by brother John Jackson Smith, Sr., and sisters, Lois May Ray, Gladys May Davis, and Corine Elizabeth (Smith) Gardner.
Survivors include a brother, Iowa Pierce Smith and his wife, Millie, of Palm Bay, FL; nieces, Jean Davis, Vickie Davis, and Elizabeth Hatch of Florida; nephews, Charlie Gardner of Florida, John Gardner of Atlanta, John J. Smith, Jr. of Georgia, Stanley Smith of Rome, Kenneth Smith and David Smith of Florida.
