James William “Jimmy” Pope, Jr., 75, of McRae, died Monday, May 4. A memorial service will be held at 2:00P.M., Thursday, May 7, at McRae United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service.
A native and lifelong resident of McRae, Jimmy was the son of the late James William Pope, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Holland Pope. He served in the Air National Guard, was a medical supplies salesman and retired as a Probation Officer with the state of Georgia. He was a member of McRae United Methodist Church where he sang in the Chancel Choir.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Miller Pope of McRae; daughter, Sara Elizabeth Spires (Kelly), of McRae; James William Pope, III (Hope), of Milledgeville; and John Thomas Pope, McRae; grandchildren, Mary Beth Spires, Kelly Royce Spires, Jr., James William Pope, IV and Jackson Marshall Pope.
