James Franklin “Cotton” Selph, 85, of Milan, died Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Friday, October 21, at Freedom Baptist Church with burial in the Milan Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Mr. Selph was the son of the late Ben and Mary Jane White Selph. A retired farmer and logger, he was a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church and was proud to have served his country in the US Army. Mr. Selph was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Julius B. Selph, Varna Lee S. Pruett, Marvin Selph, Ida Mae S. Smith and D.W. Selph, and a sister-in-law, Mary Studstill.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Gussie H. Selph, Milan; daughters, Karen (Bill) Jones and Connie (Winky) Lann, both of Milan; sisters, Gail Trice, Cochran and Cynthia Herring, Alpharetta; sisters-in-law, Louise Selph, Cochran, Joann Selph and Betty (Gene) Johnson, both of McRae; grandchildren, Lori (Joey) Marchant and Becki (Bryan) Kilpatrick; great-grandchildren, Davis Marchant, Macy Grace Marchant, Ansley Kilpatrick and Abby Claire Kilpatrick. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
