James William Varnadoe, 80, of Griffin, died Thursday, January 18. A funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M., Sunday, January 21, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial at Riverside Cemetery, Lumber City. Visitation is 7:00 – 9:00P.M., Saturday, at Vaughn Funeral Home.
A native of Lumber City, Mr. Varnadoe was the son of the late Wilson Woodrow Varnadoe and the late Ruth Lovvorn Varnadoe. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lumber City and a member of UAW #34. Mr. Varnadoe was a U.S. Navy veteran and was retired from General Motors.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Scott Varnadoe of Griffin; son, James Darrell Varnadoe of Butler; brother and sisters, Mitchell Varnadoe of Nichols, Geraldine Scott Varnadoe Stroup of Lumber City and Patsy Varnadoe Hamilton of Woodbine; and a cousin, Edward (Clemmie) Lovvorn of Lumber City.
