David Cameron Walker (Dave Walker, Jr.), 88, of Dublin, died peacefully on Thursday, February 10. A visitation will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, February 12, at Bethlehem (Sandhill) United Methodist Church, followed by a graveside service at 1:00P.M.
A native of Milan, Mr. Walker was the son of the late Dave Walker, Sr. and the late Mattie Cameron Walker. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sicily. Mr. Walker began his 50 year post office career as a substitute mail carrier in 1959 and later served as Post Master in Milan, McRae and Dublin. He was a member of Dublin First United Methodist Church and was active at Bethlehem (Sandhill) United Methodist Church, where he was a lay speaker and served as trustee. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Powell Walker.
Survivors include his children, Suzanne (David) Cole of Dublin, Sandy (James) Bennett of Milan; David (Beth) Walker and Joe Walker, both of Dublin; brother and sisters, Dee Elkins of Locus Grove, Frances Duncan of Riverdale, Charles (Sandra) Walker of Kathleen and Mary Fransioli of Forsyth; brother-in-law, Jimmy (Brenda) Knight of McRae; grandchildren, Amy Bennett of Savannah, Emily (Brent) Wood of Cadwell, Ada Walker of Dublin and Cameron (Heather) Bennett of Dawsonville; and great-grandchildren, Brogen Reid Wood, Gunner Lake Wood, Rosie Claire Bennett and Graham Walker Bennett.
