Clark Giddens, 86, of McRae, died Saturday, September 30, following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 3:00P.M., Monday, October 2, at Macedonia Baptist Church with burial in the Telfair Memorial Gardens. Visitation 6:00-8:00P.M., Sunday.
A native and lifelong resident of McRae, Mr. Giddens was the son of the late Walter Giddens, Sr. and the late Annie Vaughn Giddens. A member of Macedonia Baptist Church and farmer for all of his life, he was recognized in the Little Ocmulgee E.M.C. magazine for his bounteous garden. Mr. Giddens served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Susie Smith, Polly Moon, Ed Giddens, Scott Giddens and Walter Giddens, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Donnie Kay Hart.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Jo Giddens of McRae; daughters, Kay Hart of Chauncey, Deborah (Michael) Fetting of Angier, NC and Clara Giddens of McRae; sisters, Ruby Gunn of McRae, Katie Tate of Macon and Mary Gunn of Dublin; twin sister, Willie Sanders of Albany and brother Thomas Giddens of Jacksonville; and grandchildren, Laura Melissa McCoy, Nathaniel Clark Fetting, Donnie Wayne “J.R.” Hart, Jr., Victoria Leigh Pippin, Kel Benjamin Pippin and Amalia Gabrielle Throckmorton.
