Christine Briley Towns, 96, of McRae, died Saturday, October 25. Funeral services will be held at 11:00A.M., Tuesday, October 28, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with burial at Central Grove Church Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 6:00 - 8:00P.M.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Ms. Towns was the daughter of the late John Elton Briley and Rosella Selph Briley, and was married to the late Guy C. Towns. She will be remembered as being an excellent cook and for being the best grandma in the world. Ms. Towns was a member of Central Grove Church of God. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Guynell Towns Kennedy; grandchild, Phillip Chaney and great-granddaughter, Amanda Towns.
Survivors include her children, Wyleen Towns Haskins (Stuart), Eatonton, Wyoma Towns Smith Johns (Gene), Warner Robins, Paul Towns, Eloise Yawn (Jack), Rhine, Jean T. Horne (Ralph), Albany, Daniel Towns (Pam), Hazlehurst and David Towns, Chauncey; and sisters, Kathleen Durden, Maxine Odum and Wynette Bullington, all of Jacksonville, FL. 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren also survive.
