Christine (Spires) Seay

Christine Spires Seay was born on June 3, 1933 and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 30, 2023.  She was the daughter of Joel Ross and Exie Alice Smith Spires and was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, John Emory Seay, and her siblings, Benjamin Franklin Spires, JB Spires, Doshie Mae Spires, Bill Spires, Becky Walker, Virginia Whitlock, George Spires, Celestine Smith and Russell Spires.

Mrs. Seay is survived by her children, Nancy Gail Rogers and husband, Tommy of McRae, Randall Emory Seay of Atlanta, Exie Lynn Seay of Cumming, and Tina Seay of McRae. Also, she is survived by grandsons, Chris “Buck” Rogers and his wife, Katelyn, of Braselton, Will Rogers and his wife, Lana, of McRae, and Joel Rogers and his wife, Paula, of Eastman. Additionally, eleven great-grandchildren survive including Billy Rogers, Eli Rogers, Rose Rogers, Ben Rogers, Bo Rogers, Emma Rogers, Sarabelle Rogers, Lily Rogers, Abby Rogers, Dean Rogers and Henri Rogers. Only one sibling survives, her younger sister Vivian Cooper of Macon. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Christine Seay was a lifelong resident of Telfair County and a faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church. She was known for her beautiful voice and loved singing hymns and praising the Lord.

She was a wonderful Mother to her four children and was affectionately called Mama Crick by her extended family and friends. She loved cooking, gardening and canning and was happiest when preparing delicious meals in her kitchen for everyone.

She retired from AgGeorgia Farm Credit after 23 years of service as an Administrative Professional. Before that her expansive administrative career spanned many years at Telfair Concrete Products, Telfair County Tax Commissioner’s Office, Walker Pipe Company and Peninsular-Lurton Co.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M., Tuesday, October 3, at Midway Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Alvin Lewis officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday, from 9:30 - 10:30A.M., at Vaughn Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at Midway Methodist Church Cemetery.
