Christine Yawn Brown, 91, of McRae, died Thursday, March 1. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Sunday, March 4, at Faith Baptist Church with burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late Levie Tildon Yawn and Minnie Rawlins Yawn. She attended South Georgia College, Georgia Women’s College, Georgia Southern and received her EDS from the University of Georgia. A frequent contributor to The Telfair Enterprise, she was a member of the Telfair-Wheeler Retired Educators Association, Eastern Star and Swinging Violets Red Hatters Society. A dedicated patriot, Mrs. Brown was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary VFW. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Lamar Brown, Jr. and a daughter, Cathy Brown.
Survivors include her children, Lynne (Mickey) Harrelson of Helena, Marilyn Brown of Tucker, Carolyn Brown of College Park, Tommy (Jean) Brown of McRae and Christy (Steve) Watrous of Peachtree City; sister-in-law, Eugenia Yawn, Milan; grandchildren, Will (Lisa) Harrelson, Helena, Christa (Matt) Deissler, Watkinsville, and Mallory (Chad) Lovvorn, McRae; and great-grandchildren, Paige Harrelson, Erin Harrelson, Carson Lovvorn, Callie Lovvorn and Stella Deissler.
