Charlie “C.J.” Horton, Jr., 75, of Jacksonville, died Tuesday, November 3, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00A.M., Thursday, November 5, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial in Telfair Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Wednesday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native and lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Mr. Horton was the son of the late Charlie W. Horton, Sr. and the late Annie Elizabeth Wooten Horton. Throughout his law enforcement career, Helena State Patrol Post 16, the Telfair County Sheriff’s Office and the Milan Police Department were all privileged to have him on duty.
Survivors include his wife, Irene H. Horton, Jacksonville; children, Jennifer H. Green (Chris Sanders), McRae and Tim C. (Jeanette) Horton, Alamo; step-children, Cathy Walker, McRae, Teresa Brown, Eastman, Wanda Ussery, Milan, Brenda Brown, Fitzgerald, Gary Parker, Alamo, Sarah O’Quinn, Equador, David Parker, Vidalia and Debbie Morrison, Eatonton; granddaughter, K.C. (Jason) Bennett; and great-grandchildren, Ansley Diane Bennett and Cooper J. Bennett. Many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren also survive.
