Bobby Willis Horne, 85, of Helena, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, July 18, following a lengthy illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M., Sunday, July 21, at Community Church of God with burial at Harrelson Family Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, 7:00-9:00P.M., at Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae.
A native of Wheeler County where he lived most of his life, Mr. Horne was the son of the late Troy W. and Mollie Harrelson Horne. A former postmaster, he was proficient at refrigeration and a/c work, electrical work, farming and possessed many other talents. If it was broken, he could fix it. Mr. Horne proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a lifelong member of Community Church of God. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Ollie Jo Lowie Horne; brothers and sisters, Troy Horne, Jr., Lemmie Horne, Wauweeze Dennis, Ruby Towns and Bernard Horne.
Survivors include his wife, Jewell Horne of Helena; children, Greg (Marilyn) Horne of Barnesville, Joyce (Mike) Reith of Woodland Hills, CA and Barbara (Juan) Gonzalez of Goodyear, AZ; brothers and sisters, Mary Sue (Quinton) Guin of Alamo, Joan Brown of Alamo, Ralph (Jean) Horne of Milan and Randal (Marilyn) Horne of Helena; grandchildren, Bobby Horne, Greg Horne, Luis (Kristen) Gonzalez, Daniel Gonzalez and Maria (Jonathan) Craft; and great-grandchildren, Juliet Craft, Adelaide Gonzalez, Lilah Craft, Nolan Gonzalez, Owen Gonzalez and Nathaniel Gonzalez. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
