Betty Lou Howard, 70, of Jacksonville, died Monday, May 21, at home following a short illness. Funeral services will be at 11:00A.M., Wednesday, May 23, at Mt. Galilee Baptist Church with burial in the Clements Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Mrs. Howard was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Ideatha Clements Howell and was the wife of the late John Austin Howard, Sr. A graduate of South Georgia College, she was a Registered Nurse at VNA, McRae and Lumber City Nursing and Rehab, formerly Brian Center Nursing & Rehab, Lumber City. Mrs. Howard was also a member of the American Nurses Association.
Survivors include her children, John (Suzanne) Howard, Hazlehurst, Kathy (Jeffrey) Simmons, Ludowici and Jerry (Lisa) Howard, Louisville; sister, Belva Gainey, Orangeburg, SC; grandchildren, Malory Howard, Shannon Howard, Austin Simmons, Trent Simmons, Casey Cravey and Jayme Beecher; and great-grandchildren, Gaven Cravey, Drew Cravey, Allie Grace Adams and Payton Thigpen.
