Henry Dover

Henry Dover, 89, formerly of McRae, passed away Tuesday, June 21, following a lengthy illness.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00A.M., Saturday, June 25, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visitation is Friday, 6:00 – 8:00P.M.

A native of Telfair County, Mr. Dover was one of eight children of the late James R. and Meda S. Dover.  On May 30, 1953, he married the love of his life, the late Elizabeth Green Dover.  A retired operating engineer, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved to fish and hunt.  Mr. Dover was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, James Edward Dover, Bonnie Walker, Margaret Sheppard and Velma Spires.

Survivors include his son, Henry Alan (Cathee) Dover of West Palm Beach, FL; daughter, Carol A. (Todd) Williams of St. Mary’s, OH; brother and sisters, Elvin E. (Vivian) Dover and Rachel (Roy) Henderson, both of McRae and Mary Etta Spires of Abbeville; grandchildren, Thomas Henry (Isabelle) Dover and Brittany Nicole (Darren) Homan; and great-grandchildren, Kyla Dover, Ryan Dover, Justin Dover, Bentley Homan and Paisley Homan.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
